Liturgy

Mass Schedule

“The liturgy is the summit toward which the activity of the Church is directed.  At the same time, it is the fount from which all her power flows.  The aim and object of apostolic works is that all who are children of God by faith and baptism should come together to praise God in the midst of his church, to take part in the sacrifice and to eat the Lord’s Supper….From the liturgy ,therefore particularly from the Eucharist, grace is poured forth upon us as from a fountain; the liturgy is the source of achieving in the most effective way possible human sanctification and God’s glorification, the end to which all Church’s other activities are directed”.  ( Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy 10)

Liturgical Season

The Liturgical Season during autumn is Ordinary Time.  The word “ordinary” does not mean routine but “counted” or “ordinal” time.  We have the 28th, 29th, 30th Sundays…all counted one after another.  Summer and Fall Ordinary time comprises the longest portion of the Liturgical Year, covering as much as six months of the calendar. Readings have themes of harvest, which is an intense spiritual image of the paschal mystery and end times.  We are challenged with demands of building up the kingdom.  This season of Ordinary Times ends on November 21, with the  celebration of the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ the King.
