Adult Confirmation
The Advocate, the holy Spirit that the Father will send in my name—he will teach you everything and remind you of all that [I] told you.
- John 14:26
Baptized catholic but never confirmed?
new session begins may 17, 2026
The Adult Confirmation Program is for adults who were baptized and raised Catholic and have received First Holy Communion, but were not confirmed. Adults baptized in another Christian denomination who are seeking to become Catholic are properly referred to as candidates for full communion and should read information regarding the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA).
Confirmation enriches the baptized with the strength of the Holy Spirit so that they can be better witness to Christ in word and deed (Catechism of the Catholic Church [CCC] 1285). Anointed by the Holy Spirit at Confirmation, Christians strengthen their bond with the Church and become better equipped to carry out the Church's mission of love and service.
The Adult Confirmation Program is suggested for St. Edward parishioners who:
- Seek the Sacrament of Confirmation
- Are 18 years of age or older and no longer in high school
- Were baptized Catholic (a copy of the baptism certificate is required)
- Have received First Holy Communion
- Are attending Mass and receiving Communion regularly
An interview with our pastor, Fr. Joseph Wamala and completion of appropriate forms is necessary.
