Arts & Environment

Every church building is a gathering place for the assembly, a resting place, a place of encounter with God, as well as a point of departure on the Church's unfinished journey toward the reign of God.

Churches, therefore, must be places suited to sacred celebrations, dignified, and beautiful. Their suitability for worship is determined by their ability through the architectural design of space and the application of artistic gifts to embody God's initiative and the community's faithful response. Church buildings and the religious artworks that beautify them are forms of worship themselves and both inspire and reflect the prayer of the community, as well as the inner life of grace.

Get Involved

The Arts & Environment Ministry encompasses the unseen ministries that support liturgy.

linen Committee

The Linen Committee is an at-home ministry. You launder the altar linens (stain removal, wash, dry, and iron) and return to the church by the next weekend. You serve approximately 4 times a year. Contact Joyce Hughes at (804) 272-7269.

Care for the Plants

Maintain live plants (water, repot, move as needed/purchase as needed).

Environmental Support of the Liturgy

Help decorate the Worship Space (specific scriptures, holy days).

Our parish is always looking for those blessed with artistic gifts to help design and maintain different aspects of keeping the Worship Space and the liturgies sacred and beautiful throughout the year.
